The Society of Actuaries (SOA) is hosting two meets over tea between 4.30-6.30 PM in Mumbai on 18^th March 2025 and in Delhi on 21 March 2025 (the venue details will be conveyed shortly). This is an open event with complimentary attendance focused on students already taking SOA exams, prospective students exploring taking the SOA course and parents of students in high school or early college who want to understand the future of the actuary profession for their kids.

The event will have the following sessions:

• An Introduction to SOA and its actuary course
• A brief on the ‘global actuary’ – potential of the profession worldwide
• A session by representative of a large offshore actuary firm talking about the role of actuaries in their organization

This will be followed by an interactive session, where SOA’s international team and industry committee members will be present to address all issues.

In an integrated world with significant cross border flows of goods, services and capital, risk management is seeing new challenges and opportunities. The actuarial profession, which traditionally catered to the insurance industry is not only seeing developments in its existing domains but also seeing an extension of scope across other economic activities. In north America it is regarded as one of the top 10 professions in terms of emoluments and there is potential growth. In this context, the SOA looks forward to providing more information on the profession to students exploring taking up this profession and to their parents who are a major guiding force for their children’s professional pursuits in India.
